UI/UX design for Canadian product teams
A UI/UX design agency for teams in Canada.
We are one studio in Surat, India, and we work remotely with product teams in Toronto, Waterloo, Calgary, Vancouver and Montreal. No Canadian office and no local staff: a design partner whose working day begins as yours is ending.
An honest note on location
One studio, in Surat, working with Canadian teams.
There is one IXdesign studio, at 617, Laxmi Enclave 2, near Gajera School, Katargam, Surat, Gujarat, India. We have no office in Canada, no designers in Toronto and no local presence to point at. If you are looking for a UI/UX design agency in Canada with a downtown address, that is a reasonable thing to want and it is not what we are. What we offer instead is a small studio of about eight people, roughly a decade of practice, and a working method built for teams we cannot sit beside. The free 15-point UX audit exists for exactly this stage: send a link to a live product and you will get an honest read back within one working day.
The overlap matters more than the map. Toronto and Montreal are nine and a half to ten and a half hours behind us depending on the season, and Vancouver a few hours further. That gives us the start of your morning and the end of our day, which is enough for a live session and a same-day answer. A 9am Toronto call lands in our evening. Everything after that runs asynchronously, and the whole studio is set up that way rather than treating remote work as a fallback. We are small enough that you will know everyone who touches your project by name.
Canadian teams tend to be careful buyers, and we take that as a compliment rather than an obstacle. You will want references, a written scope and a clear sense of what happens if the fit is wrong. We would rather answer those questions in detail up front than discover a mismatch in week three. What we cannot do is be in the room with you. What we can do is answer in writing, on time, with the reasoning shown, and keep a record your team can read at whatever hour suits them. If what you actually need is a designer who can attend workshops in person every week, we are the wrong choice, and it is cheaper for both of us to say so now.
What Canadian teams bring us
Four kinds of work, and who they suit.
New products from a blank file
A founder with a clear problem and no interface yet. We shape the flows, the navigation and the first working screens before a line of front-end code is written, so the build starts from a decision rather than a guess.
Design systems that hold
Component libraries and patterns documented well enough that a growing team can add screens without the product drifting into five slightly different versions of the same button, which is how most design debt begins.
Redesigns of live products
SaaS tools and dashboards that work but have outgrown their first design, rebuilt screen by screen so the live product keeps running while it changes underneath your users.
Mobile app screens
Phone interfaces for products that live in a pocket, designed around small targets, interrupted sessions and the states that only show up on a bad connection in a lift.
How it runs
A working method built around the overlap.
Start from the shared window
We find the hours that suit both sides and protect them. Live calls go there; everything else is written. The point is that a call is worth having and has an agenda, not that it was easy to book.
Asynchronous by default
Screens, comments and decisions arrive in a shared file with the reasoning attached. You can read them in your own time and answer in a paragraph instead of arranging a meeting that costs everyone part of a day.
One designer accountable
The person who briefs you is the person who designs the work. There is no account layer between you and the file, and no handoff to a name you have never met on a call you were not invited to.
Written progress, every week
What moved, what is blocked and what is next, in writing every week, so a distributed team always knows where the project stands without scheduling a status call or chasing anyone for an update.
Context
What a Canadian product team should weigh.
Canadian product teams are often lean in a particular way: a small group carrying a lot of surface area, spread across a few cities, with nobody whose whole job is design. That is the gap a remote studio fills well. The work suits a team that can write a clear brief, review screens in a file and give feedback as comments rather than as a conversation in a corridor. If that describes how your team already works, distance stops being the interesting problem. A brief that lives in a shared document is worth more to a remote project than a long kick-off call, and it keeps paying for the life of the work.
Some Canadian products also need to work in two languages. We design in English and will not claim to write Quebec French for you: that should come from someone qualified, and we will say so. What we can do is build the layout so translation does not break it. Buttons, navigation and labels get the room they need, text stays out of images, and rows that will grow longer in French are designed with that growth in mind rather than patched later. It is a small piece of discipline that saves a rebuild when the second language arrives, which it usually does.
The other thing worth weighing is where your data sits. We design interfaces; we do not host or process your users’ information, and we keep our own files to the work itself. Anything sensitive stays in your systems, under your control and your policies, and we sign the agreement your legal team needs before we see it. That arrangement is not a boast, it is simply the practical shape of a studio on the other side of the world from the product it is designing. We will also tell you plainly what we are not: not a development shop, not a branding agency, and not the right fit if you need a designer on site every week.
Questions
What Canadian teams want to know.
Is there a local team or office in Canada?
No, and we would rather be blunt about it. The studio is in Surat, India, and every person who touches your project works from there. We are a remote design partner for Canadian teams, not a Canadian agency with an Indian back office. What we can do is design for your product from Surat and meet you in the hours that overlap.
How much of the day actually overlaps?
Enough for a call and a same-day answer, not enough for a running conversation. Toronto and Montreal sit nine and a half to ten and a half hours behind us across the year, so your morning is our evening. Vancouver is further. We plan the work around that window instead of fighting it, and we treat the agreed slots as appointments rather than open availability.
Can you work alongside our in-house designers?
Yes, and it is one of the better ways to use us. We can take a defined slice of the product, follow an existing design system and hand files back into your process, or join as an extra pair of hands during a push. What we ask for is a clear boundary on which screens your team owns and which are ours, so two people are never designing the same thing.
What if our product needs French as well as English?
We design in English. French copy should come from a qualified translator or writer, and we account for it in the layout from the first screen so longer strings do not break the design. We will not pretend to be the right people to write it. If French is central to the product rather than an add-on, budget for a writer on your side and we will design around their copy.
How does a project usually start?
You send a few lines about the product and a link to anything live. We reply within one working day with the next step. If you send a link to a running product, that reply includes the free 15-point UX audit, with the findings written down and ranked. If the brief is thin we will ask questions rather than guess, and the audit gives us something concrete to talk about.
