The role

What you will do.

We build themes in code, not in a page builder, and the developer who builds a site is the one who launches it and keeps it running.

  • Build custom WordPress themes from our Figma files in PHP, HTML and CSS, matching the design rather than approximating it.
  • Turn a design system into template parts and reusable components, so an editor can change the words without breaking the layout.
  • Decide what should be editable in WordPress and what should stay locked in the theme, and set the admin up accordingly.
  • Own the performance basics: image sizes and formats, script loading, caching, and Core Web Vitals on a mid-range phone rather than on your desk.
  • Implement the fundamentals that get skipped: semantic markup, heading order, focus states, metadata, structured data, sitemaps.
  • Set up forms, analytics and redirects, and run launches and migrations without losing a single URL.
  • Keep the sites we host patched, backed up and secure after launch, and fix what breaks.

Requirements

What we are looking for.

  • Two or more years building WordPress sites in code, with live examples we can open and inspect.
  • Solid PHP, modern CSS (grid, flexbox, custom properties) and enough JavaScript to build an interaction without reaching for a plugin.
  • Comfortable with the template hierarchy, custom post types, the loop, hooks and filters, and the REST API when it is the right tool.
  • Git, a local development environment, and the habit of deploying without drama.
  • You can read a Figma file and match it precisely, and you speak up early when a design will not survive the browser.
  • A real allergy to page builders and to plugins that solve a five-line problem.
  • Useful but not required: WooCommerce, block editor development, or performance tuning on sites with traffic.
